Located at the entrance of the Warehouse District in downtown Raleigh, Parkside is situated on the corner of West Martin and South Dawson streets across from historic Nash Square. After working for many years in Mediterranean cuisine, I have learned many healthy vegan and vegetarian techniques. The idea of using a meat substitute intrigued me.

Chef Matt Scofield


Chef Matt started his culinary career at the young age of 14. A native of Hyde Park, N.Y., Matt earned his associate’s degree in Culinary Arts Management at the Culinary Institute of America. After stints in St. Petersburg FL and New York, he made his way to Raleigh working for J. Gilbert’s Wood Fired Grill, Stonewood Tavern and Grill and Durham’s heralded Four Square before landing at Sitti in 2008. Hired by Todd Henderson, Chef Matt went on to spend 6 years as the executive chef at Sitti followed by 1 year as the executive chef at The Morning Times. In March of 2016, Todd Henderson called Chef Matt to tell him of his new venture. He was opening a new restaurant in the once Joes Place / Brewmasters location. Excited to work with Henderson again, Chef Matt accepted the executive chef position at Parkside. In his kitchen, Matt combines his culinary creativity with fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients, serving up award-winning and inspired dishes daily.
